Spent this afternoon eating leftover pizza (Jet’s 10!), pumping some more, walking the dog, shower, diss, and other little emaily, errandy things. I checked to see if I got responses to the survey I sent out earlier in the day, and I’ve already gotten several. Yay. At 6 pm, when my husband and daughter come home, we feed her, give her a bath, brush her teeth, read her two stories, and put her to bed, by 8. Sometimes if we have our s* together, we eat dinner with her at 6. Other days, like tonight, we eat after she goes to bed. So, 6-8/9 pm is family, no work time. Throughout the day, I read articles people post on Twitter and FB. Now I’m about to go back to the diss. Probably do so until little miss wakes up hungry, or until bedtime for me.
Oh, also, throughout the day (today and oftentimes others), I chat with a friend of mine at another institution. Mostly she’s been trying to help keep me on track with the writing. I’ve maintained a lot of my closest friendships/relationships entirely through chat. It’s a funny thing. So it’s always a bit of a wonder to me when faculty talk about the difficulty of building meaningful relationships in online courses through tools like chat. Not to say that I have the answers for making these kinds of relationships happen in classroom contexts.
Haven’t had a whole lot of time to spend talking/thinking/writing about Day of DH, but it’s crunch time for me. Til next time…
