My name is Dot Porter, and I am the Curator, Digital Research Services at the Special Collections Center at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries. One of my major responsibilities involves working in the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies, an initiative that is so new that it exists only virtually; although there is physical space allocated to SIMS, the staff hasn’t been moved into the space. We still need to decide on furniture! And I only started this job on April 1.

For this year’s Day of DH I will document 24 hours of the earliest days of development of a new, special collections-focused digital/humanities center.
